There is a word in Portuguese that has no direct translation in English. Saudade. It means the longing for something you love that is no longer there. That feeling is why Terra Sol exists.

See, I grew up in Brazil where skincare was never complicated. Buriti oil from the Cerrado palm. Cupuaçu butter from the Amazon. Maracujá from the passion fruit vine. Babassu starch from the palm. Real ingredients that my mother and grandmother used. Back then, nobody read labels because there was nothing to question.

Fast forward 20 years and every ingredient I put on my face has a name I can’t pronounce.

For years I’ve looked for natural ingredients from my homeland, and occassionally I’ll find a moisturizer or cream with Cupuaçu butter. It’s usually paired with synthetic preservatives and emulsifiers. I always found products that claimed to be natural, but when I looked at the ingredients it was a laundry list of chemicals.
